Community Alternatives Kentucky - Lexington
Who We Are
Community Alternatives Kentucky (CAKY) Lexington is a local provider with national supports as part of the ResCare family of services. ResCare is the country's leading provider of services for persons with developmental disabilities. Established in 1974, ResCare is best defined by the origin of its name: Respect and Care. It is this unique combination of respect for the value of the individual served and a truly caring approach to meeting human needs that sets ResCare apart. Based in Louisville, Kentucky, ResCare consists of a network of experienced and dedicated professionals across the country committed to providing quality supports for people with developmental disabilities. As a part of ResCare, we at CAKY Lexington measure our success by the success of the people we serve.
What We Do
CAKY Lexington is dedicated to meeting the needs of the people we serve. We offer services for people with developmental and other disabilities. Services provided include support in their homes, at their jobs and in their community. All of the services are individualized and planned to be carried out by direct support professionals who work daily with each person. People served by CAKY Lexington live in houses located in typical neighborhoods. Home-based supports are provided that allow people to live full lives through choosing and realizing personal goals. An individual support plan is carefully structured by the individual, their family and staff to assist each individual in achieving personal goals. Individuals are continually involved in planning services through meetings, self-assement and communication with the interdisciplinary team. Employees facilitate involvement in the community. Individuals are encouraged to participate in community activities on a regular basis and some hold jobs in the community. The goal is for the people we serve to always be active members of their community. When the time is right, some individuals may move into their own apartments. Supports would then be provided on an as-needed basis.
